Uncovering the role of the PPR protein PHOTOSYSTEM ONE BIOGENESIS FACTOR6 in splicing chloroplast group II introns

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The P‐class pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) protein PHOTOSYSTEM ONE BIOGENESIS FACTOR (PBF6) forms splicing complexes with other known splicing factors to facilitate chloroplast intron splicing. PBF6 cooperates with other PPR splicing factors to promote the splicing of the same intron through forming respective splicing complexes.

The genetic architecture of leaf vein density and its importance for photosynthesis in maize

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Vein types in maize leaves. Summary Leaf venation density has significantly increased during plant evolution. Higher densities are observed in angiosperms compared with early land plants, and among angiosperms, recently diverged C4 species have the highest values.

Negative Regulators of Rice Agronomic Traits: Functional Insights and Applications in Genome Editing‐Based Breeding

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rice is the staple crop for more than half of the global population, and improving grain yield, grain quality, and stress resistance remain central goals of modern rice breeding. Among current precision breeding strategies, genome editing has created new opportunities for crop improvement, but its success depends heavily on the selection of ...

Post‐Translational Control of TaFT1 by WAPO1 Ubiquitination Shapes Spike Architecture and Yield in Wheat

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The florigen protein TaFT1 coordinately regulates heading time and spikelet number per spike (SNS), serving as a key yield determinant in wheat. However, how its stability is post‐translationally controlled in the shoot apical meristem remains unclear.

Transcript correlation analysis for the identification of novel plant genes involved in iron metabolism and beyond: what next?

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Transcript correlation analysis allowed the identification of several key nodes in the complex regulatory network of plant iron metabolism. Abstract Arabidopsis thaliana was the first plant genome to be fully sequenced, almost a quarter of a century ago, thanks to The Arabidopsis Genome Initiative, with contributions from scientists worldwide.
