Increasing Lipid Nanoparticle mRNA Copy Number Improves Transfection Potency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
As lipid nanoparticle (LNP) systems are the leading platform for in vivo nucleic acid delivery, improving transfection potency of these systems is of considerable interest. In this work, we explored a post‐mixing formulation method involving a two‐step buffer exchange that increased the number of mRNA copies within each LNP while reducing the number of

Charge‐Reversed Lipid Nanoparticles Enable Encapsulation of Pt2L4 Nanocages for In vivo Anti‐Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Charge‐reversed lipid nanoparticles (revLNPs) enable efficient encapsulation and delivery of cationic Pt2L4 nanocages. Encapsulation preserves potent anticancer activity while improving circulation, reducing vascular leakage, and promoting favorable biodistribution in vivo.

Effects of Double-Stranded RNA Degrading Nucleases on RNAi Efficiency in Beet Moth Spodoptera exigua (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

open access: yesInsects
The insect order Lepidoptera contains many species that are considered to be agricultural pests. Specific double-stranded RNA-degrading enzymes in some moth species decrease the efficiency of RNA interference (RNAi).

A Critical Call for Mechanistic Investigations of Metal‐Bacteria Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
It is well established that the antibacterial properties of metals have tremendous importance for bioengineering applications. What is not as appreciated, however, is the reproducibility crisis in this field's vast literature. In this perspective, we highlight this reproducibility problem, discuss its sources, and suggest solutions towards focused ...

Bacteria‐Trained, MnO2‐Armored Dendritic Cells for Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
MnO2‐armored, bacteria‐trained dendritic cells undergo tumor‐responsive mechanical and immunological transformation. The nanocoating masks immune ligands and maintains a mechanically stiff, quiescent state during circulation, while the tumor microenvironment removes the armor and restores cellular deformability and immune accessibility.
