Thermodynamic Studies of RNA Stability
Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 1984Enthalpies and entropies of helix stabilization due to addition of 3' terminal unpaired nucleotides to a CCGG or GGCC core double helix are derived from UV melting studies. The results suggest stacking provides a significant fraction of the free energy of a terminal base pair.

Chloroplast RNA processing and stability
Photosynthesis Research, 2004Primary chloroplast transcripts are processed in a number of ways, including intron splicing, internal cleavage of polycistronic RNAs, and endonucleolytic or exonucleolytic cleavages at the transcript termini. All chloroplast RNAs are also subject to degradation, although a curious feature of many chloroplast mRNAs is their relative longevity.

Stabilization of RNA Encapsulated in Silk
ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering, 2018The use of mRNA and miRNA as diagnostic parameters and therapeutic agents has drawn wide interest both clinically and in research. However, RNA is a labile molecule, which requires strict storage conditions, often including cold temperatures or dry environments, in order to preserve RNA integrity.

Seminars in Virology, 1997
Abstract RNA molecules fold into specific base-paired conformations that contain single-stranded regions, A-form double helices, hairpin loops, internal loops, bulges, junctions, pseudoknots, kissing hairpins, and so forth. These structural motifs are recognized by proteins, other RNAs, and other parts of the same RNA.

Control of messenger RNA stability
Immunology Today, 1987Gene expression can be controlled at many levels. Changes in the rate of transcription of a gene, the rate of nuclear processing of the transcript (capping, termination, polyadenylation and splicing) and the rate of transport of the processed transc, ipt from the nucleus to the cytoplasm can contribute to changes in the levels of a particular mRNA. Once

Regulation of RNA Stability Through RNA Modification
2021As intracellular RNA levels are determined by the balance between RNA synthesis and decay, RNA stability is a critical factor in the quantity of intracellular RNA. Recent advances in epitranscriptomic measuring techniques have shown that RNA modifications, such as methylation and acetylation, affect RNA stability, including those of messenger RNA (mRNA)

Stability of the messenger RNA-transfer RNA-ribosome complex
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1968Abstract The thermal stability of the mRNA-aminoacyl-tRNA-ribosome complex and each of its individual components was examined. A temperature-dependent, reversible dissociation of the mRNA-tRNA-ribosome complex has been demonstrated. By analogy with polynucleotide melting curves, the dissociation of the mRNA-tRNA-ribosome complex is considered as a ...

Transcriptome-Wide Profiling of RNA Stability
2021Gene expression is controlled at multiple levels, including RNA transcription and turnover. But determining the relative contributions of RNA biogenesis and decay to the steady-state abundance of cellular transcripts remains challenging because conventional transcriptomics approaches do not provide the temporal resolution to derive the kinetic ...

Determinants of messenger RNA stability
Cell, 1987The steady-state levels of functional mRNAs are determined in part by their rates of decay in the cytoplasm. Hence, this process plays an important role in the control of gene expression. Individual mRNA species differ widely with respect to metabolic stability.
