Comparative evaluation for the globin gene depletion methods for mRNA sequencing using the whole blood-derived total RNAs

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2020
Background There are challenges in generating mRNA-Seq data from whole-blood derived RNA as globin gene and rRNA are frequent contaminants. Given the abundance of erythrocytes in whole blood, globin genes comprise some 80% or more of the total RNA ...

Synthetic Strategy for mRNA Encapsulation and Gene Delivery with Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research utilizes the ZIF‐8 for the encapsulation and intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, specifically mRNA, for applications in gene delivery. Integrating PEI addresses the issue of mRNA leakage from ZIF‐8, resulting in the delivery and expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in vitro and firefly luciferase in vivo.

Ramsey goodness of bounded degree trees [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Given a pair of graphs $G$ and $H$, the Ramsey number $R(G,H)$ is the smallest $N$ such that every red-blue coloring of the edges of the complete graph $K_N$ contains a red copy of $G$ or a blue copy of $H$. If a graph $G$ is connected, it is well known and easy to show that $R(G,H) \geq (|G|-1)(\chi(H)-1)+\sigma(H)$, where $\chi(H)$ is the chromatic ...

Lipid Nanoparticle‐Mediated CRISPR‐Cas13a Delivery for the Control of Bacterial Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
New formulations of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that can deliver nucleic acids to Gram‐negative bacteria are proposed to combat bacterial infection. The delivery of nucleic acids by LNPs is aided by LNP‐helpers which weaken the bacterial outer membrane. LNPs encapsulating the Cas13a/gRNA expression vector achieve an antibacterial effect in both in vivo ...

An inverse scattering problem for the Schrödinger equation in a semiclassical process [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
We study an inverse scattering problem for a pair of Hamiltonians $(H(h), H\_0 (h))$ on $L^2 (\r^n)$, where $H\_0 (h) = -h^2 \Delta$ and $H (h)= H\_0 (h) +V$, $V$ is a short-range potential with a regular behaviour at infinity and $h$ is the semiclassical parameter. We show that, in dimension $n \geq 3$, the knowledge of the scattering operators $S(h)$,

Novel Less Toxic, Lymphoid Tissue‐Targeted Lipid Nanoparticles Containing a Vitamin B5‐Derived Ionizable Lipid for mRNA Vaccine Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
The top‐performing lipid nanoparticle, incorporating a novel ionizable lipid derived from vitamin B5, demonstrates high mRNA transfection efficiency, low toxicity, favorable stability, targeted delivery to lymphoid tissues, and high immunogenicity, showing promise as a carrier for mRNA vaccines for infectious diseases and cancer.

On the irregularity of uniform hypergraphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Let $H$ be an $r$-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices and $m$ edges, and let $d_i$ be the degree of $i\in V(H)$. Denote by $\varepsilon(H)$ the difference of the spectral radius of $H$ and the average degree of $H$. Also, denote \[ s(H)=\sum_{i\in V(H)}\left|d_i-\frac{rm}{n}\right|,~ v(H)=\frac{1}{n}\sum_{i\in V(H)}d_i^{\frac{r}{r-1}}-\left(\frac{rm}{n}\

Bioengineering a Patient‐Derived Vascularized Lung Tumor‐on‐Chip Model to Decipher Immunomodulation by the Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Most in vitro cancer models lack cellular diversity, functional complexity, and clinical relevance. This work highlights the generation of an innovative dynamic tetraculture with autologous patient‐derived cells within a vascularized tumor‐on‐chip, as well as the recapitulation of endothelial anergy features induced by the tumor microenvironment ...

Full-Length cDNA Synthesis for Long-Distance RT-PCR of Large mRNA Transcripts

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2003
Reverse transcription of mRNA often leads to the synthesis of partial, non-fulllength cDNAs. Methods to facilitate reverse transcription across RNA regions of secondary structure, as well as enzyme modifications to eliminate RNase H activities inherent ...
