q-Moments remove the degeneracy associated with the inversion of the q-Fourier transform

open access: yes, 2011
It was recently proven [Hilhorst, JSTAT, P10023 (2010)] that the q-generalization of the Fourier transform is not invertible in the full space of probability density functions for q > 1.

On the need for bump event correction in vibration test profiles representing road excitations in automobiles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper presents an approach to the synthesis of compressed vibration test profiles representing much longer time histories obtained in road testing of ground vehicles.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The impacts of road traffic on urban air quality in Jinan based GWR and remote sensing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Traffic congestion and smog are hot topics in recent years. This study analyzes the impacts of road traffic characteristic parameters on urban air quality quantitatively based on aerosol optical thickness (AOD) and geographical weighted regression (GWR ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Shorter Roads Go a Long Way: The relationship between density and road length per resident within and between cities

open access: yesCanadian Planning and Policy, 2020
Roads are an important aspect of the efficiency gains that stem from population density: the more people live on a given road network, the less each person must pay for paving, maintenance, and snow clearing.
