An Road Boundary Detection Algorithm Based on Radar that Can Improve Multiple-Target Tracking Performance for Autonomous Vehicles on Highway Condition

open access: closedSAE Technical Paper Series, 2023
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Radar is playing more and important role in multiple object detection and tracking system due to the fact that Radar can not only determine the velocity instantly but also it is less influenced by environment conditions. However,

On-road vehicle detection fusing radar and vision

open access: closedProceedings of 2011 IEEE International Conference on Vehicular Electronics and Safety, 2011
This paper presents a cross-verification approach to fuse radar and vision data for vehicle detection. Firstly, a realtime vision approach using specific shadow segmentation is used to detect vehicles in whole image independently. The fusion approach contains two steps: matching and validation. The targets respectively from radar and vision verify each

A novel approach to range profile estimation of a moving vehicle by road monitoring radar

open access: closedIET International Conference on Radar Systems 2007, 2007
A wideband signal is generated from a sum of narrowband signals. As a result, the Doppler shifted signal received from a vehicle can be compensated for using specially designed auxiliary signals. This enables vehicle range profile estimation and classification. (5 pages)

A Fully Integrated Radar-Based True-Speed-Over-Ground Sensor for Highly Dynamic Road Vehicles

open access: closed2024 IEEE/MTT-S International Microwave Symposium - IMS 2024
In this work, we introduce a novel radar-based groundspeed sensor (RGSS) capable of measuring the two-dimensional movement of road vehicles. Using four 122 GHz transceivers, the sensor features an update rate of 100 Hz suitable for highly dynamic driving scenarios. The system is compact and lightweight, with a fully 3D-printed dielectric lens assembly.

Segmentation of a road from a vehicle-mounted radar and accuracy of the estimation

open access: closedProceedings of the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium 2000 (Cat. No.00TH8511), 2002
This work treats a problem relevant to automatic road following, collision avoidance, and maneuver control. A millimeter-wave radar is placed on the front of the vehicle and an image of the radar backscatter of the terrain is acquired in polar coordinates.

3D Detection and Tracking for On-road Vehicles with a Monovision Camera and Dual Low-cost 4D mmWave Radars

open access: closed2021 IEEE International Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference (ITSC), 2021
High resolution 4D millimeter wave radar has been increasingly used for robust 3D detection and tracking of on-road vehicles. Rich point clouds generated by 4D radars can not only provide more reliable detection in harsh weather environments, but also offers 3D tracking capabilities for on-road objects.

Vehicle location estimation based on 79GHz UWB radar employing road objects

open access: closed2016 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2016
This paper presents a vehicle location estimation based on 79GHz ultra-wideband (UWB) radar, which utilizes various road objects around car. Lane-keeping-assist system with camera is available in many cars to keep self-vehicle inside a solid white line, which is one of important systems for self-driving car.

Road and vehicle detection in highway scene for automotive FMCW antenna array radar

open access: closedIET International Radar Conference 2015, 2015
This paper deals with the road and vehicle detection problem in highway scene for automotive radar which uses frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) signals and antenna array. Due to the automotive radar's low angle resolution, targets such as guardrails on road edge interfere with the vehicle detection and bring difficulties to the distance ...
