High resolution 4D millimeter wave radar has been increasingly used for robust 3D detection and tracking of on-road vehicles. Rich point clouds generated by 4D radars can not only provide more reliable detection in harsh weather environments, but also offers 3D tracking capabilities for on-road objects.

24 GHz Interferometric Radar for Road Hump Detections in Front of a Vehicle
2018 19th International Radar Symposium (IRS), 2018This paper presents an interferometric radar system using SFCW to detect small road obstacles at 24 GHz. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the method employed to estimate the hump’s height, and it can be used in the context of driver assistance or even driverless cars in a future.

Radar Based Road User Detection in Intelligent Vehicles
2022This thesis addresses the problem of object detection with automotive radar sensors in the field of intelligent vehicles with special attention to vulnerable road users: pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. It is not the goal of this work to improve the hardware design or signal processing algorithms of the radar sensors themselves, but to take ...

Segmentation of a road from a vehicle-mounted radar and accuracy of the estimation
Proceedings of the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium 2000 (Cat. No.00TH8511), 2002This work treats a problem relevant to automatic road following, collision avoidance, and maneuver control. A millimeter-wave radar is placed on the front of the vehicle and an image of the radar backscatter of the terrain is acquired in polar coordinates.

Segmentation of road edges from a vehicle-mounted imaging radar
Ninth IEEE Signal Processing Workshop on Statistical Signal and Array Processing (Cat. No.98TH8381), 2002This work treats a problem arising in intelligent vehicles and highway systems (IVHS), specifically in automatic road following, collision avoidance, and maneuver control. A millimeter-wave radar is placed on the front of the vehicle and an image of the radar backscatter of the terrain is acquired in polar coordinates. This image contains both road and

The Online Vehicle Type Classifier Design for Road-Side Radar Detectors
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009This study presents an online vehicle type classifier for road‐side radar detectors in multi‐lane environments. An automatic learning framework which composes a parametric statistic model and algorithms is introduced. The parameters of an online vehicle type classifier are trained with vehicles passing in front of detectors.

A novel approach to range profile estimation of a moving vehicle by road monitoring radar
IET International Conference on Radar Systems 2007, 2007A wideband signal is generated from a sum of narrowband signals. As a result, the Doppler shifted signal received from a vehicle can be compensated for using specially designed auxiliary signals. This enables vehicle range profile estimation and classification. Road and vehicle detection in highway scene for automotive FMCW antenna array radar
IET International Radar Conference 2015, 2015This paper deals with the road and vehicle detection problem in highway scene for automotive radar which uses frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) signals and antenna array. Due to the automotive radar's low angle resolution, targets such as guardrails on road edge interfere with the vehicle detection and bring difficulties to the distance ...
