Trust in Robot–Robot Scaffolding

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems, 2023
The study of robot trust in humans and other agents is not explored widely despite its importance for the near future human-robot symbiotic societies. Here, we propose that robots should trust partners that tend to reduce their computational load, which is analogous to human cognitive load.

Vision-Based Branch Road Detection for Intersection Navigation in Unstructured Environment Using Multi-Task Network

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2022
Autonomous vehicles need a driving method to be less dependent on localization data to navigate intersections in unstructured environments because these data may not be accurate in such environments.

Handover Control for Human-Robot and Robot-Robot Collaboration [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2021
Modern scenarios in robotics involve human-robot collaboration or robot-robot cooperation in unstructured environments. In human-robot collaboration, the objective is to relieve humans from repetitive and wearing tasks. This is the case of a retail store, where the robot could help a clerk to refill a shelf or an elderly customer to pick an item from ...

A Practical Approach for Picking Items in an Online Shopping Warehouse

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Commercially viable automated picking in unstructured environments by a robot arm remains a difficult challenge. The problem of robot grasp planning has long been around but the existing solutions tend to be limited when it comes to deploy them in open ...

Single-port technique evolution and current practice in urologic procedures

open access: yesAsian Journal of Urology, 2021
Different groups described the single-port surgery since its first report in laparoscopic procedures. However, the acceptance of this technique among urologists, even after the robotic approach, was reduced in the past years.

Medical Robotics [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Biomedical Engineering, 2018
Medical robotics encompasses surgical, therapeutic and rehabilitative devices that are changing medicine and healthcare. Although the field of medical robotics predates Intuitive’s da Vinci by more than a decade, it was the clinical and commercial achievements of that system that brought medical robotics to widespread patient and public attention.

Modeling the Contact Force in Constrained Human–Robot Collisions

open access: yesMachines, 2023
Collaborative robots (cobots) become more and more important in industrial manufacturing as flexible companions, working side by side with humans without safety fences. A key challenge of such workplaces is to guarantee the safety of the human co-workers.
