Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy—advancing lung cancer management [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery
The incidental discovery of early-stage, multifocal lung cancer is transforming the medical landscape. Diagnosing and treating such lesions are often troublesome due to their small size, subsolid consistency, and multifocal nature.

Proof of concept: Shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy performed under moderate sedation

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2023
We describe a first reported case of shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy using ION-intuitive platform done successfully under moderate sedation. A 76-year-old woman was found to have a right upper lobe mass measuring 3 × 2.9 cm.

Robotic navigational bronchoscopy in a thoracic surgery practice: Leveraging technology in the management of pulmonary nodulesCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open, 2023
Objectives: Robotic navigational bronchoscopy is increasingly used to improve diagnostic yield for pulmonary nodules compared with the 50% to 60% obtained by standard bronchoscopy; however, safety and efficacy data are limited to small series. The aim of

Shape-Sensing Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy vs. Electromagnetic Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy—A Comparative Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine
Introduction: Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with approximately 1.5 million new peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) detected annually in the United States. Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy (RAB) has emerged as a promising technology, with two platforms initially approved, the Monarch platform (Auris Health Inc, Redwood ...

Innovations in Bronchoscopy: Robotic-assisted Bronchoscopy

open access: yesUS Respiratory & Pulmonary Diseases, 2022
Low-dose computed tomography screening for lung cancer has led to the increased detection of peripheral pulmonary nodules (PPN). Bronchoscopic modalities of PPN biopsy (ultrathin bronchoscope, radial endobronchial ultrasound, electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy) have not consistently shown diagnostic yields as high as ultrasound- or computed ...

The Use of Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy in the Diagnostic Evaluation of Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions: A Paradigm Shift

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Despite recent developments, evaluation of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPL) remains clinically challenging, and the diagnostic yield of many image-guided and bronchoscopy methods is still poor.
