Laser-Driven Very High Energy Electron/Photon Beam Radiation Therapy in Conjunction with a Robotic System

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2014
We present a new external-beam radiation therapy system using very-high-energy (VHE) electron/photon beams generated by a centimeter-scale laser plasma accelerator built in a robotic system.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Communication Within Multi-FSM Based Robotic Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The paper presents a robotic system design methodology based on the concept of an embodied agent decomposed into communicating subsystems, whose activities are specified in terms of FSMs invoking behaviours parameterised by transition functions and ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Robotic Manipulation of Cumulus–Oocyte Complexes for Cumulus Cell Removal

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The removal of cumulus cells from cumulus–oocyte complexes is a critical step in clinical in vitro fertilization. Since the oocyte is partially occluded by the surrounding cumulus cells and individual cumulus cells are small in size, it is difficult for ...

Sliding mode control of a three-DOF robotic system driven by DC motors [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Technical Review, 2015
This paper proposes a sliding mode control of a 3-DOF robotic system driven by DC motors. Primarily, a conventional sliding mode controller based on a pd sliding surface is designed.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
