Joint-Space Characterization of a Medical Parallel Robot Based on a Dual Quaternion Representation of SE(3)

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
The paper proposes a mathematical method for redefining motion parameterizations based on the joint-space representation of parallel robots. The study parameters of SE(3) are used to describe the robot kinematic chains, but, rather than directly ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Robotic Endoscopy [PDF]

open access: yesVisceral Medicine, 2018
Endoscopes extend the eyes of the physician into the patient's body. They are widely used in gastrointestinal (GI) diagnostics and minimally invasive surgery. Endoscopes can be classified into 3 types: rigid, flexible, and capsule endoscopes. Rigid and flexible endoscopes are traditionally held and manipulated by the physician to visualize the region ...

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...

Design and Analysis of a High-Speed Slotless Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Considering Air-Gap Airflow

open access: yesActuators
The air-gap airflow significantly influences the performance of high-speed slotless permanent magnet synchronous motors (HSSPMSM), yet this critical factor is frequently overlooked during the design phase, resulting in performance deviations.

Technology and the Appearance of the Good: Carebots, Virtual Virtue, and the Best Possible Life [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Growth of the elderly population and nursing shortage place increased pressure on our health care systems. One possible response is to let care robots or carebots take over care tasks.

Evolutionary dynamics of the chloroplast genome in Daphne (Thymelaeaceae): comparative analysis with related genera and insights into phylogenetics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

A Novel De-Noising Method for Improving the Performance of Full-Waveform LiDAR Using Differential Optical Path

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
A novel de-noising method for improving the performance of full-waveform light detection and ranging (LiDAR) based on differential optical path is proposed, and the mathematical models of this method are developed and verified.
