Portfolio Implementation Risk Management Using Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Portfolio management based on mean-variance portfolio optimization is subject to different sources of uncertainty. In addition to those related to the quality of parameter estimates used in the optimization process, investors face a portfolio ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Analytical performance of an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry with Dual View configuration

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2003
The analytical performance of axially and radially viewed inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometers (AX-ICP OES and RD-ICP OES, respectively) were evaluated in terms of the Mg II/Mg I ratio, matrix effects, and detection limits (LOD). All

Research of PMSM-DTC system based on the super-twisting second sliding mode control

open access: yesJournal of Hebei University of Science and Technology, 2017
Aiming at the problems that the conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control system (PMSM-DTC) is susceptible to the influence of parameter change and torque ripple, it is proposed that the space voltage vector modulation ...

Robustness during Aging—Molecular Biological and Physiological Aspects

open access: yesCells, 2020
Understanding the process of aging is still an important challenge to enable healthy aging and to prevent age-related diseases. Most studies in age research investigate the decline in organ functionality and gene activity with age.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Accuracy Assessment of Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Traffic Accident Photogrammetry in the Extreme Operating Conditions of Kuwait

open access: yesInformation, 2020
This study presents the first accuracy assessment of a low cost small unmanned aerial vehicle (sUAV) in reconstructing three dimensional (3D) models of traffic accidents at extreme operating environments.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Selecting the Best Quantity and Variety of Surrogates for an Ensemble Model

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Surrogate modeling techniques are widely used to replace the computationally expensive black-box functions in engineering. As a combination of individual surrogate models, an ensemble of surrogates is preferred due to its strong robustness.

Robustness [PDF]

open access: yes
The standard theory of decision making under uncertainty advises the decision maker to form a statistical model linking outcomes to decisions and then to choose the optimal distribution of outcomes.
