Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Research of PMSM-DTC system based on the super-twisting second sliding mode control
Aiming at the problems that the conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control system (PMSM-DTC) is susceptible to the influence of parameter change and torque ripple, it is proposed that the space voltage vector modulation ...

Robustness during Aging—Molecular Biological and Physiological Aspects
Understanding the process of aging is still an important challenge to enable healthy aging and to prevent age-related diseases. Most studies in age research investigate the decline in organ functionality and gene activity with age.

Robust artificial intelligence and robust human organizations [PDF]
Every AI system is deployed by a human organization. In high risk applications, the combined human plus AI system must function as a high-reliability organization in order to avoid catastrophic errors. This short note reviews the properties of high-reliability organizations and draws implications for the development of AI technology and the safe ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Selecting the Best Quantity and Variety of Surrogates for an Ensemble Model
Surrogate modeling techniques are widely used to replace the computationally expensive black-box functions in engineering. As a combination of individual surrogate models, an ensemble of surrogates is preferred due to its strong robustness.

Pareto adversarial robustness: balancing spatial robustness and sensitivity-based robustness
Adversarial robustness, which primarily comprises sensitivity-based robustness and spatial robustness, plays an integral part in achieving robust generalization. In this paper, we endeavor to design strategies to achieve universal adversarial robustness.
