Correlated Metal LaNiO3 as a p‐Type Transparent Conductor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
p‐type transparent conducting oxides are needed to enable superstrate solar cell geometries with n‐type absorbers. The p‐type correlated metal LaNiO3 combines high optical transmission with low electrical resistivity and is compatible with a range of scalable deposition processes.

Behavior of Nonconforming Flexure-Controlled RC Structural Walls Under Reversed Cyclic Lateral Loading

open access: yesBuildings
Reinforced concrete (RC) structural walls are essential for ensuring adequate lateral stiffness and strength in buildings located in seismic regions. However, many older structures incorporate nonconforming walls constructed with low-strength concrete ...

Study of Isolation Effectiveness of Nuclear Reactor Building with Three-dimensional Seismic Base Isolation

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu, 2023
In recent years, three-dimensional (3D) seismic base isolation system has been studied extensively. In order to study the application of 3D seismic base isolation in nuclear power plants (NPPs), the new 3D combined isolation bearing (3D-CIB) composed of ...

A Novel Modified Petroresin Particle (MPRP) With Enhanced Oil–Water Selectivity for Cold Production in Heavy Oil Reservoirs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel oil–water selective conformance control agent, MPRP, is prepared via hydrophilic grafting and mechanical granulation. MPRP uniformly disperses in water, cohesively expands upon aging, and readily dissolves in the oil phase. During conformance control, it selectively aggregates in water channeling pathways to form effective plugs without ...

Earthquake Rocking Response of Rigid Bodies [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Structural Division, 1980
Using a computer program, the rocking and overturning response of rectangular blocks of various sizes and aspect ratios is studied under several strong motion earthquakes. The effect of coefficient of restitution and of vertically prestressing the blocks to the floor is also studied.

From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.

Full-Scale Collision Behavior of a Polyurea-Coated RC Intrusion Protection Wall for High-Speed Train Derailment

open access: yesBuildings
High-speed train derailments can cause severe vehicle collisions with rail bridges and adjacent infrastructure; however, full-scale evidence for the collision response of trackside intrusion-protection walls and for material measures that limit concrete ...

Rocking seismic excitations effect on inelastic response of reinforced concrete building with soft-story

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2021
Well-known problem with seismic design codes is that it does not take into account the rotational earthquake components. Only Eurocode 8, in Part 6, offers response spectra of rotational accelerations for the seismic design of slender and tall structures

Development of Rocking Isolation for Response Mitigation of Elevated Water Tanks under Seismic and Wind Hazards

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
Elevated water tanks are categorized as strategic components of water supply systems in modern urban management. Past earthquake events have revealed the high vulnerability of these structures. This paper investigates the development of rocking isolation

Tuning Redox Dynamics in Cu‐Based Electrocatalysts: Effect of Secondary Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced analysis of operando X‐ray absorption spectroscopy data reveals that secondary metals affect the redox processes in Cu‐based catalysts for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. This influences the amount of oxides formed under pulsed reaction conditions and the distribution of reaction products.
