Investigation on Regularities of Self‐Healing Breakdown in Metallized Film Capacitors for AC Application

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 18, September 22, 2025.
Self‐healing capacitors, with advantages of high operating voltage, great energy density, and environmental friendliness, are widely used in power system. The electrodes of the capacitors consist of a nanometer‐thick metal layer on polypropylene films, granting them a unique self‐healing capability.

Analysis of Temperature and Stress Distribution on the Bond Properties of Hybrid Tailored Formed Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 16, August 2025.
Hybrid materials enable high‐performance components but are challenging to process. This study explores an inductive heating concept with spray cooling for steel–aluminum specimens in a two‐step process including friction welding and cup backward extrusion.

Analysis of Various Pickup Coil Designs in Nonmodule-Type GaN Power Semiconductors

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Gallium nitride (GaN) devices are advantageous over conventional Silicon (Si) devices in terms of their small size, low on-resistance, and high dv/dt characteristics; these ensure a high integrated density circuit configuration, high efficiency, and fast

Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Industrial Electric Arc Furnace Operation: Validation and Performance of Melting Phenomena

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 7, July 2025.
A tap‐to‐tap operation conducted in a 150 t AC electric arc furnace (EAF) by NLMK Indiana is simulated by using a specialized computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solver. The solver integrates a coherent jet model, AC arc heating model, and a scrap melting model to simulate the actual operation of an industrial EAF.

Underlying Physical Mechanisms in Upward Positive Flashes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 12, 28 June 2025.
Abstract This study presents the first observation of a mixed mode (MM) of charge transfer during an upward positive flash, which was initiated from the Säntis Tower in Switzerland. High‐speed camera footage, along with current and electric field measurements, revealed a downward‐propagating recoil leader connecting to the grounded current‐carrying ...

Time–frequency characteristics and influencing factors of the pressure wave caused by power–frequency arc inside a closed oil tank

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 699-709, June 2025.
Abstract The arc faults inside oil‐immersed power equipment can produce high‐amplitude pressure waves inside tanks, which might cause ignition and explosion accidents. This kind of failure is one of the most severe faults for power equipment and has attracted considerable attention in recent years.
