ANALYSIS OF ROLLING FRICTION BETWEEN TRIANGULAR TOOTH TYPE FRICTION WHEEL AND FLEXIBLE TRACK UNDER SMALL DEFORMATION CONTACT

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2017
In this paper,we study the rolling friction of the triangular tooth friction wheel and the flexible track under the condition of small deformation contact. According to the Crook ’s elastic plastic rolling friction theory, the flexible rail is established

Rolling as a continuing collision

open access: yes, 2002
We show that two basic mechanical processes, the collision of particles and rolling motion of a sphere on a plane, are intimately related. According to our recent findings, the restitution coefficient for colliding spherical particles \epsilon, which ...

Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

Effect of rolling on the friction coefficient in three-body contact

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The contact problem of system of particles rolling over a viscoelastic layer bonded to the rigid half-space was considered. Particles have a spherical shape and their radiuses are distributed along Gauss.

Conductive Bonding and System Architectures for High‐Performance Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review outlines bonding technologies and structural design strategies that support high‐performance flexible and stretchable electronics. Bonding approaches such as surface‐activated bonding and anisotropic conductive films, together with system‐level architectures including buffer layers and island‐bridge structures, possess distinct mechanical ...

Friction power loss of continuous sine tooth profile planetary reducer

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
In this paper, a sine tooth planetary reducer with one tooth difference is proposed. For the proposed reducer, the equations of the oil film thickness, the meshing sliding and rolling friction power loss, and the friction power loss of the bearings for ...

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.
