Reverberation enhancement for small rooms

open access: yes, 2012
Reverberation enhancement is a technology which allows the reverberation time of a room to be increased through the use of an electronic system. These systems have traditionally been applied to improve the acoustics of large concert halls but the ...

Multimodal Human–Robot Interaction Using Human Pose Estimation and Local Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal human–robot interaction framework integrates human pose estimation (HPE) and a large language model (LLM) for gesture‐ and voice‐based robot control. Speech‐to‐text (STT) enables voice command interpretation, while a safety‐aware arbitration mechanism prioritizes gesture input for rapid intervention.

A general model for the simulation of room acoustics based on hierachical radiosity

open access: yesACM SIGGRAPH 97 Visual Proceedings: The art and interdisciplinary programs of SIGGRAPH '97 on - SIGGRAPH '97, 1997
We present a new method to compute the impulse response (IR) of a given virtual room based on hierarchical radiosity. Unlike previous work, our approach can treat complex geometries and is listeningposition- independent. Moreover, complex phenomena such as sound diffraction are also taken into account.

LLM‐Integrated Human–Robot Interaction System for Microrobots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This paper proposes an LLM‐based control framework for guiding microrobots using human natural language. This framework can convert the natural human speech into safe and executable command sets for reliable navigation in complex environments. The experimental results show high accuracy and robustness in task performance, demonstrating the potential of

Towards an active semi-anechoic room: simulations and first measurements

open access: yesActa Acustica
Semi-anechoic rooms are used for the acoustic characterisation of noise sources. They involve heavy infrastructures and thick absorbent lining. The aim of this work is to demonstrate a less expensive alternative by complementing a thin passive coating ...

MicroRoboScope: A Portable and Integrated Mechatronic Platform for Magnetic and Acoustic Microrobotic Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents the MicroRoboScope, a highly integrated, compact, and portable microrobotic experimentation platform combining electromagnetic and acoustic actuation with real‐time visual feedback into a single, end‐to‐end device. The system enables closed‐loop control and tracking algorithm experimentation within an accessible and unified hardware ...

A Low‐Cost, Handheld Optical Stiffness Sensor for Minimally Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel handheld stiffness sensor is presented for real‐time tissue stiffness characterization. By simultaneously sensing contact force and tissue deformation, the device enables accurate stiffness quantification without requiring precise manual control. This approach offers a promising solution for intraoperative tumor detection and minimally invasive

From Architectural Acoustics to Acoustical Architecture Using Computer Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Architectural acoustics design has in the past been based on simple design rules. However, with a growing complexity in architectural acoustics and the emergence of room acoustic simulation programmes with considerable potential, it is now possible to ...

In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Pholidota‐Inspired Electronic Skin Possessing Terahertz‐Wave Reflection–Absorption–Transmission Switchability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The pholidota‐inspired electronic skin is successfully constructed, originally realized four‐state reversible switching of terahertz‐wave reflection, absorption, transmission, and secondary reflection. In response to external demands, it issues deformation instructions, verifies the deformation state after the equipment executes the action, and thus ...
