Morphology, RNase and transaminase of root protoplasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
RNase and transaminase activities were analysed for mechanically and enzymatically prepared protoplasts from Allium Cepa roots. The comparative analyses at three root regions show that the enzymes were less active in the protoplasts than in the cells ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Root morphology and pulp chamber assessment on first and second mandibular permanent molars using cone-beam computed tomography in Peruvian individuals

open access: yesEndodontology
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the anatomical variability in the root configuration and pulp chamber of the first and second mandibular permanent molars presented on the Peruvian population with cone-beam computed tomography.

Salinity Stress Alters Root Morphology and Root Hair Traits in Brassica napus

open access: yesPlants, 2019
Plant roots show morphological plasticity and play a substantial role in tolerance to various edaphic stresses. The aim of this study was to explore salinity-induced morphogenic responses of root traits and root hairs of two rapeseed varieties, BARI ...

Stemmer for Serbian language

open access: yes, 2012
In linguistic morphology and information retrieval, stemming is the process for reducing inflected (or sometimes derived) words to their stem, base or root form; generally a written word form.

Turkish handwritten text recognition: a case of agglutinative languages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We describe a system for recognizing unconstrained Turkish handwritten text. Turkish has agglutinative morphology and theoretically an infinite number of words that can be generated by adding more suffixes to the word.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Isolation, characterization, and substrate properties of the external limiting membrane from the avian embryonic optic tectum [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The external limiting membrane of the avian embryonic optic tectum is isolated by mechanically separating the neuronal mesencephalon from the overlying mesenchymal tissue.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
