Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Theoretical spectra and energetics for c-C3HC2H, l-C5H2, and bipyramidal D3h C5H2

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
The recent astronomical detection of c-C3HC2H and l-C5H2 has led to increased interest in C5H2 isomers and their relative stability. The present work provides the first complete list of anharmonic vibrational spectral data with infrared intensities for ...

INVESTIGATING THREE CYCLIC DIKETONE MOLECULES USING ROTATIONAL SPECTROSCOPY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Diketones are a family of compounds extensively investigated in chemistry, mainly due to their keto-enol tautomerism. Rotational spectroscopy is a uniquely powerful tool to probe tautomerization processes owing to its direct sensitivity to molecular ...

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

ROTATIONAL SPECTROSCOPY OF THE PYRIMIDINE-CO₂ COMPLEX [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The looming threat of anthropogenic climate change has driven a significant amount of research into efficient methods of capturing and storing CO₂. Reversible capture mechanisms, such as those governed by weakly bound inter-molecular interactions, have ...

Influence of an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere on Diamond‐Single‐Grain Scratching of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐grain scratching of Ti–6Al–4V is investigated under controlled, oxygen‐free, and ambient atmospheres using a novel experimental setup with in situ high‐speed imaging. The approach enables direct observation of chip formation and adhesion under suppressed oxidation.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Laser spectroscopy and ab initio calculations on the TaF Molecule

open access: yes, 2016
Electronic transition spectrum of the tantalum monoflouride (TaF) molecule in the spectral region between 448 and 520 nm has been studied using the technique of laser-ablation/reaction free jet expansion and laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy.
