The effect of round-off error on long memory processes [PDF]
Abstract We study how the round-off (or discretization) error changes the statistical properties of a Gaussian long memory process. We show that the autocovariance and the spectral density of the discretized process are asymptotically rescaled by a factor smaller than one, and we compute exactly this scaling factor.

Relative distance—an error measure in round-off error analysis [PDF]
Olver ( SIAM J. Numer. Anal. , v. 15, 1978, pp. 368-393) suggested relative precision as an attractive substitute for relative error in round-off error analysis. He remarked that in certain respects the error measure

Estimation of Round-off Errors in OpenMP Codes [PDF]
It is crucial to control round-off error propagation in numerical simulations, because they can significantly affect computed results, especially in parallel codes like OpenMP ones. In this paper, we present a new version of the CADNA library that enables the numerical validation of OpenMP codes.

On the round-off error in the method of successive over-relaxation [PDF]
The asymptotic behavior of the round-off error, which accumulates when the well-known iterative method of (point) successive over-relaxation is used to solve a large-scale system of linear equations, is examined by means of a statistical model. The local round-off errors are treated as independent random variables and expressions for the mean and ...

Tests of Methods that Control Round-Off Error
Methods of controlling round-off error in one-step methods in the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations are compared. A new Algorithm called theoretical cumulative rounding is formulated. Round-off error bounds are obtained for single precision, and theoretical cumulative rounding.

ANALYSIS OF ROUND OFF ERRORS WITH REVERSIBILITY TEST AS A DYNAMICAL INDICATOR [PDF]
We compare the divergence of orbits and the reversibility error for discrete time dynamical systems. These two quantities are used to explore the behavior of the global error induced by round off in the computation of orbits. The similarity of results found for any system we have analyzed suggests the use of the reversibility error, whose computation ...

Stochastic rounding: implementation, error analysis and applications
Stochastic rounding (SR) randomly maps a real number x to one of the two nearest values in a finite precision number system. The probability of choosing either of these two numbers is 1 minus their relative distance to x.

An Improved Magnetic Field Method to Locate the Grounding Conductor
The location of the grounding grid conductors is critical for performing corrosion diagnosis and maintenance work. An improved magnetic field differential method to locate the unknown grounding grid based on truncation errors and the round-off errors ...
