Simple relationship between the virial-route hypernetted-chain and the compressibility-route Percus--Yevick values of the fourth virial coefficient

open access: yes, 2010
As is well known, approximate integral equations for liquids, such as the hypernetted chain (HNC) and Percus--Yevick (PY) theories, are in general thermodynamically inconsistent in the sense that the macroscopic properties obtained from the spatial ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Neighbour coverage: a dynamic probabilistic route discovery for mobile ad hoc networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Blind flooding is extensively use in ad hoc routing protocols for on-demand route discovery, where a mobile node blindly rebroadcasts received route request (RREQ) packets until a route to a particular destination is established.

Closed queueing networks under congestion: non-bottleneck independence and bottleneck convergence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We analyze the behavior of closed product-form queueing networks when the number of customers grows to infinity and remains proportionate on each route (or class).

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

The Correlation between CYP450 Ile462Val Polymorphism and Prostate Cancer in a Group of Iranian Men

open access: yesMiddle East Journal of Cancer, 2016
Background: Cytochrome P450 plays an important role in pharmaceutical metabolism, steroidal hormones and procarcinogens. CYP1A1 is an enzyme, which is very active in the formation of reactive mediators or injurious agents for DNA.

The strategy of passenger transportation by national railway transport: the implementation of public service obligations [PDF]

open access: yesTransport, 2009
Based on research carried out by the author, the article identifies the problems of passenger transportation by national railway transport such as reduction in passenger flows, the growth of transportation costs, insufficient financing of loss-making ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Chemical-potential route for multicomponent fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The chemical potentials of multicomponent fluids are derived in terms of the pair correlation functions for arbitrary number of components, interaction potentials, and dimensionality.
