Scalability of Route Planning Techniques
In this paper, we thoroughly analyze the scaling behavior of several state-of-the-art route planning techniques for road networks, all of which rely on preprocessing. One goal is to determine which technique is most suitable to be used on huge networks. To be able to conduct scalability studies in a clean way, we first describe a new

Principles of Vessel Route Planning in Ice on the Northern Sea Route [PDF]
A complex of ice cover characteristics and the season of the year were considered in relation to vessel route planning in ice-covered areas on the NSR. The criteria for navigation in ice - both year-round and seasonal were analyzed.

We consider the problem of routing for logistics purposes, in a contested environment where an adversary attempts to disrupt the vehicle along the chosen route. We construct a game-theoretic model that captures the problem of optimal routing in such an environment.

Route planning for soft modes of transport: healthy routes [PDF]
The application of sustainability principles on the definition of policies and actions for urban mobility relies on the promotion of less pollutant, economic, and more equitable modes of transport, such as walking and cycling, also known as smooth modes of transport.

A dynamic rescue route planning method based on 3D network in mine water inrush hazard
Water inrush in mine is one of the most common hazards in the mining industry. To solve the problem of rescue route planning during a mine water inrush hazard, a dynamic rescue route planning method based on a 3 D network is proposed.

Route Planning in Transportation Networks [PDF]
We survey recent advances in algorithms for route planning in transportation networks. For road networks, we show that one can compute driving directions in milliseconds or less even at continental scale. A variety of techniques provide different trade-offs between preprocessing effort, space requirements, and query time.
