A Synthetic Transcriptional Activator of Genes Associated with the Retina in Human Dermal Fibroblasts. [PDF]
Small molecules capable of modulating epigenetic signatures can activate the transcription of tissue-restricted genes in a totally unrelated cell type and have potential use in epigenetic therapy.

Radial Spokes-A Snapshot of the Motility Regulation, Assembly, and Evolution of Cilia and Flagella [PDF]
Propulsive forces generated by cilia and flagella are used in events that are critical for the thriving of diverse eukaryotic organisms in their environments. Despite distinctive strokes and regulations, the majority of them adopt the 9+2 axoneme that is

Peripheral fundus findings in X-linked retinoschisis [PDF]
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Vitreous haemorrhage (VH) and retinal detachment (RD) cause a precipitous decline in vision in a subset of patients with X-linked retinoschisis (XLRS), an otherwise a slowly progressive condition.

Identification of evolutionarily conserved exons as regulated targets for the splicing activator Tra2β in development [PDF]
Alternative splicing amplifies the information content of the genome, creating multiple mRNA isoforms from single genes. The evolutionarily conserved splicing activator Tra2β (Sfrs10) is essential for mouse embryogenesis and implicated in spermatogenesis.

Isolation and Mapping of Human Homologues of an Imprinted Mouse GeneU2af1-rs1
We have isolated human homologues of the imprinted mouse gene, U2af1-rs1. Two different types of cDNAs and three distinct genomic DNAs belonging to different groups were isolated. We have identified chromosomal genes corresponding to each cDNA by restriction mapping and sequencing.

Epigenetic regulation of the imprinted U2af1‐rs1 gene during retinoic acid‐induced differentiation of embryonic stem cells [PDF]
Epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation and changes in chromatin structure are changes in the chemical composition or structure of DNA that work by regulating gene expression. Their mechanisms of action have been generally studied in imprinted genes.

Efficient drug delivery to the posterior segment of the eye has long been a challenging issue due to the complex ocular barriers. The review focuses on the promise held by nanoplatforms for barrier penetration and the key mechanisms involved, also highlighting their advantages in achieving efficient drug delivery and superior treatment of PSEDs ...

Genome sequence of canine herpesvirus [PDF]
Canine herpesvirus is a widespread alphaherpesvirus that causes a fatal haemorrhagic disease of neonatal puppies. We have used high-throughput methods to determine the genome sequences of three viral strains (0194, V777 and V1154) isolated in the United ...
