Effect of cadmium in the clam Ruditapes decussatus assessed by proteomic analysis
Cadmium, an environmental stressor due to its toxicity, persistence and accumulation in biota, is widespread in the aquatic environment. Cadmium accumulation kinetics have revealed that Ruditapes decussatus has a high affinity to this metal. Proteomics is an effective tool to evaluate the toxic effects of contaminants.

This study used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding of superficial water samples to assess benthic invertebrate biodiversity in the Venice Lagoon. Sampling from surface water revealed 80 taxonomic units, mostly benthic species, including several invasive ones, with significant spatial and seasonal variations in community composition.

Update of the risk assessment of brominated phenols and their derivatives in food
Abstract The European Commission asked EFSA to update its 2012 risk assessment on brominated phenols and their derivatives in food, focusing on five bromophenols and one derivative: 2,4,6‐tribromophenol (2,4,6‐TBP), 2,4‐dibromophenol (2,4‐DBP), 4‐bromophenol (4‐BP), 2,6‐dibromophenol (2,6‐DBP), tetrabrominated bisphenol S (TBBPS), tetrabromobisphenol S

Abstract Marine plankton capable of photosynthesis and predation (“mixoplankton”) comprise up to 50% of protist plankton and include many harmful species. However, marine environmental management policies, including the European Union Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and the USEPA, assume a strict dichotomy between autotrophic phytoplankton ...
