The nutritive value of condensed wheat distillers solubles for cattle
The chemical composition and the energy and protein value of five batches of condensed distillers solubles (CDS) originating from wheat were determined. The net energy for lactation (NEL) was derived from digestion coefficients obtained with sheep.

Effect of Total and Rumen Undegradable Protein on the Performance of Cows Fed Low Fiber Diets
Twelve multiparous and 18 primiparous Holstein cows were fed a 17.3% CP, 21.0% ADF diet during wk 2 through 6 postpartum. Cows then were assigned from wk 7 through 14 to one of three low fiber (10.7% ADF) dietary treatments containing either 14.4 or 18.7% CP, the latter with or without a soybean meal enhanced with rumen undegradable protein. Treatments

GOOD DIGESTION: The Metabolic Politics of Dutch Dairy Farming
ABSTRACT In the Netherlands, what dairy cows eat, produce, and excrete is meticulously recorded and controlled. While farmers optimize cows' diets for production, the side effects of this industrial metabolism have recently become problematized in new and strikingly public ways.

The intestinal digestibility of rumen undegradable protein (DRUP) values of feedstuffs for ruminants in the CVB Feed Table are in a number of cases not based on measurements but calculated using the formula: DRUP (%)= (RUP (%) – U-CP (%)) / RUP (%) × 100 where U-CP represents the undegradable protein after a 12-14 day rumen incubation period and RUP ...

Effect of palm kernel cake inclusion on intake, digestibility, nitrogen balance, feeding behavior, and weight gain of feedlot heifers [PDF]
The objective of this study was to examine the effect of the increasing levels of inclusion of palm kernel cake (PKC) in the diet on the performance of feedlot heifers.

Thirty-two Holstein heifers were used to determine the effect of energy and rumen-undegradable protein (RUP) on growth and feed efficiency. Treatment diets were in a 2 x 2 factorial consisting of two energy concentrations (supporting 0.6 or 0.9 kg of average daily gain) and two percentages of RUP (30 or 50% of crude protein). Isonitrogenous diets based
