Role of a Hidden Fault in the Early Process of the 2024 Mw7.5 Noto Peninsula Earthquake

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The 2024 Mw 7.5 Noto Peninsula, Japan, earthquake was initiated within the source region of intense swarm activity. To reveal the mainshock early process, we relocated the earthquake hypocenters and found that many key phenomena, including the mainshock ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Source rupture process of the Kocaeli, Turkey, earthquake of August 17, 1999, obtained by joint inversion of near‐field data and teleseismic data

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2000
The rupture process of the 1999 Turkey earthquake is examined using both near‐field strong motion data and teleseismic body wave data. The derived source parameters are as follows: (strike, dip, slip) = (268°, 86°, 180°), nearly pure strike‐slip; the ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

A multiple asymmetric bilateral rupture sequence derived from the peculiar tele-seismic P-waves of the 2025 Mandalay, Myanmar earthquake

open access: yesSeismica
A large strike-slip earthquake occurred in central Myanmar on March 28, 2025. The aftershock distribution suggests that the rupture of the mainshock propagated mainly to the south. However, a large-amplitude phase lasting 20 s, followed by a short-period

Dynamic rupture of metal sheet subjected to laser irradiation and tangential subsonic airflow

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2018
: To reproduce the premature rupture process of metal sheet subjected to laser irradiation with subsonic airflow, which is an interesting phenomenon observed in the experiments given by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a coupled numerical model ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.
