Features of osmotic and ionic regulations in russian sturgeon (Acipenser güldenstädti brandt)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1985
The osmolality of blood serum of one group of Russian sturgeon fished out in Southern Caspian Sea was the same as their habitat, the other group of sturgeons had a serum osmolality several per cent lower than that of sea-water in this part of the Caspian Sea. Ion concentrations in blood serum in sturgens were similar in fresh water and the Caspian Sea.

Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals expression signatures of albino Russian sturgeon, Acipenseriformes gueldenstaedtii

Marine Genomics, 2019
Albinism is a genetically inherited condition that is caused by a series of genetic abnormalities leading to a reduction in melanin production. Russian sturgeon is one of the most valuable freshwater fish species worldwide, and albino individuals have been found in fish farms.

[Meiotic gynogenesis in the stellate, Russian sturgeon and sterlet].

Ontogenez, 2003
Diploid gynogenetic progenies were obtained in the stellate sturgeon Acipenser stellatus, Russian sturgeon A. gueldenstaedtii, and sterlet A. ruthenus by means of insemination of the eggs with UV-irradiated spermatozoa and suppression of the second meiotic division by heat shock.

Regulation of spermatozoa motility in response to cations in Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii

Theriogenology, 2012
The aim of this study was to investigate the response of Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) sperm to external cations (Na(+), K(+), Ca(2+), and Mg(2+)) and their susceptibility on the induction of motility and swimming behavior. An in vitro spermatozoa motility assay was used by a computer-aided Motion-Analysis system.

Acute and Genotoxic Effects of Baku Harbor Sediment on Russian Sturgeon, Acipenser guildensteidti

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1998
Oil and caviar are the two most economically valuable natural resources for the Republic of Azerbaijan. While the collapse of the Soviet Union has brought about many beneficial changes in the society of this newly independant Republic, it has also revealed a history of ecological abuse under the Soviet system.

The Russian Sturgeon Acipenser Güldenstädti Part II. Later Prelarval Development

1991
A prelarval period can be distinguished in the development of sturgeons as a distinct and separate phase; this is also the case for many teleosteans [1,38,40,41, 51, 70, 71]. The period begins with the liberation of the embryo from the envelopes and terminates with its transition to an active feeding form. In this period the embryo is called a prelarva,

Chronic heat stress reshapes Russian sturgeon innate immune response to Aeromonas hydrophila challenge

Fish & Shellfish Immunology
Sturgeon aquaculture faces challenges due to global warming, as chronic heat stress (CHS) jeopardises fish health and production sustainability. To tackle this issue, we analysed serum innate components and the cellular composition of the peritoneum in Russian sturgeons (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) subjected to CHS and challenged with Aeromonas ...

[Dispermic androgenesis in sturgeons with the help of cryopreserved sperm: production of androgenetic hybrids between Siberian and Russian sturgeons].

Ontogenez, 2011
Dispermic androgenesis was used to produce, for the first time, an androgenetic progeny of the Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii) and the androgenetic nuclear cytoplasmic hybrids (Siberian sturgeon, A. baerii x Russian sturgeon, A. gueldenstaedtii) using cryopreserved sperm.
