Computed tomographic characterisation and surgical management of a caudal mediastinal paraoesophageal abscess with associated pneumonia in a dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Abstract An 8‐year‐old, entire, male German shorthaired pointer presented with acute respiratory distress, pyrexia and coughing following a period of boarding. Thoracic radiographs identified a caudal mediastinal mass effect with severe multilobar bronchopneumonia.

Disruption of IL-17-mediated immunosurveillance in the respiratory mucosa results in invasive Streptococcus pyogenes infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionStreptococcus pyogenes is a Gram-positive pathogen that causes a significant global burden of skin pyoderma and pharyngitis. In some cases, infection can lead to severe invasive streptococcal diseases.

A Lambda Red Recombinase‐Assisted CRISPR/Cas9 System for Efficient and Precise Genome Editing in Agrobacterium tumefaciens

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 11, Page 6010-6027, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Agrobacterium tumefaciens is a powerful delivery tool for plant genetic transformation and a pivotal platform for agricultural biotechnology. However, laboratory strains of Agrobacterium have remained genetically unoptimized for decades, with genome engineering hindered by inefficient, endogenous homologous recombination systems.

From Dysbiosis to Disease: How Vaginal Microbiota Shape Group B Streptococcus Pathogenesis

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 20, 28 October 2026.
Lactobacillus crispatus plays a critical role in the vaginal microbiome. Limiting glucose shifts metabolism toward HMO consumption and amino acid metabolism. These actions enable alkali production and competition. Homeostasis, characterized by dense Lactobacilli colonization and suppression of pathogens, provides resistance to dysbiosis.

Imaging of S. pyogenes with a stably integrated lux operon over a time course.

open access: yes, 2013
Mice (n=6) intranasally inoculated with S. pyogenes (H347::lux) were imaged over five days (A, three representative mice shown for each time point) to demonstrate anatomical localisation.

Antibiofilm activity and phytochemical compounds of Selaginella plana extract against human pathogenic microorganisms

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae
Selaginella plana (Desv.) Heiron, traditionally used in Indonesia, is known for its efficacy in treating infections in open wounds. Untreated wounds can lead to infections, cellulitis, sepsis, and biofilm formation, all of which may delay the wound ...
