Toxicology of Saccharin

Toxicological Sciences, 1984
Saccharin, like most of the artificial sweeteners, was discovered quite by accident. The controversy regarding its use as a food additive is reflected by the number of chronic/carcinogenic studies conducted to assess its safety. Two chronic studies were conducted prior to the ban of cyclamates in 1969, at which time 10 additional single-generation ...

Saccharin solubile — Lösliches Saccharin

1928

The mutagenicity of saccharin

Mutation Research/Reviews in Genetic Toxicology, 1975
Seventeen different reports are available dealing with the mutagenic effects of saccharin. Many of these are short abstracts, carrying incomplete information. Mainly tested as its sodium salt, saccharin has been found to be weakly mutagenic in Salmonella at very high doses, in Drosophila at moderate doses, and in mice at moderate to high doses.

The Saccharinic Acids

1957
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the saccharinic acids. Three structurally isomeric forms have been established for the six-carbon saccharinic acids. In the order of their discovery, these are the saccharinic or 2- C -methylpentonic acids, the isosaccharinic or 3-deoxy-2- C - (hydroxymethyl)-pentonic acids, and the metasaccharinic or 3 ...
