Conserved dimerization architecture in C‐type lectins from virus‐vector mosquitoes
C‐type lectins (CTLs) are involved in the detection of viral/microbial carbohydrates. We studied a family of soluble CTLs in the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which acts as a vector for viruses like dengue and Zika. Using crystallography, biophysics, and structure prediction approaches, we found that these proteins consistently pair together in the same ...

A chromosome‐level genome of Elcysma westwoodi was assembled. The genome encodes 272 detoxification‐related genes. A single‐copy bCAS was retained for cyanide detoxification. CYP405A and CYP332A were recruited into cyanogenic defence evolution. UGT33A retained a conserved GT‐B fold and catalytic domains.

Religious Participation After Covid‐19: Evidence From US Catholic Dioceses and Smartphone Data
ABSTRACT How do religious rules and regulations affect behavior? We examine this question using changes in Catholic regulations during the Covid‐19 pandemic combined with mobility data from 15 million smartphone users from 2019 to 2022. We first document overall trends: Total religious attendance declined sharply in March 2020 and thereafter recovered ...

Real and Apparent Deviations From Rational Choice
ABSTRACT This paper offers a taxonomy of real and apparent deviations from rationality. The taxonomy is based on three axes of divides—whereas the axes are successive refinements. The outermost‐axis divide delineates “anxiety‐based choices” from “anxiety‐free choices.” Anxiety‐based choices are real deviations such as the Allais and Ellsberg paradoxes ...
