Sepsis volume reposition with hypertonic saline solution.

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de terapia intensiva, 2015
The present review discusses the hemodynamic and immune-modulatory effects of hypertonic saline in experimental shock and in patients with sepsis. We comment on the mechanisms of action of hypertonic saline, calling upon data in hemorrhagic and septic shock.

Scolicidal effects of black cumin seed (Nigella sativa) essential oil on hydatid cysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
: Surgery remains the preferred treatment for hydatid cyst (cystic echinococcosis, CE). Various scolicidal agents have been used for inactivation of protoscolices during surgery, but most of them are associated with adverse side effects.

Role for Complement C5 in Eosinophilic Inflammation of Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 5, Page 1571-1586, May 2026.
Complement activation module, particularly C5, is positively associated with eosinophilic inflammation in severe asthma cohorts. Elevated C5 expression correlates with poor lung function improvement and persistent eosinophilic inflammation. Mouse model studies confirm that C5 exacerbates eosinophilic inflammation, highlighting its potential as a ...

Inhaled hypertonic saline for cystic fibrosis: reviewing the potential evidence for modulation of neutrophil signalling and function. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a multisystem disorder with significantly shortened life expectancy. The major cause of mortality and morbidity is lung disease with increasing pulmonary exacerbations and decline in lung function predicting significantly poorer ...

The effect of inhaled dry salt on pulmonary mucociliary clearance in obstructive lung disease: A randomised, placebo‐controlled, crossover study

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 46, Issue 3, May 2026.
Abstract Background Inhaled saline may improve mucus transport in respiratory diseases, for example, cystic fibrosis. This randomised, placebo‐controlled, crossover study examined the effect of inhaled dry NaCl on mucociliary clearance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods Twenty‐five patients with GOLD stage I‐III COPD

Reposição volêmica com soluções salinas em pancreatite e perfil hepático de proteínas apoptóticas e de choque térmico Volume replacement with saline solutions during pancreatitis in rats and the hepatic profiles of apoptotic proteins and heat-shock proteins

Efficacy of fasciotomy combined with hypertonic saline flushing for crush syndrome in rats

open access: yes陆军军医大学学报
Objective To determine the therapeutic effect of fasciotomy+hypertonic saline flushing for crush syndrome (CS) in rats. Methods SD rats (weighing 250±20 g) were randomly divided into normal control group (NC group, n=10) and CS group (n=14).Rat CS model ...

[Treatment of hypovolemia with hypertonic saline solutions].

open access: yesTidsskrift for den Norske laegeforening : tidsskrift for praktisk medicin, ny raekke, 1991
Clinical and experimental studies indicate that intravenous infusion of small volumes of hypertonic saline may be beneficial in the treatment of acute hypovolemia. After infusion, cardiac output is increased and systemic vascular resistance is lowered. The effect is transient, however, but can be prolonged by adding a colloid solution.

Low-chloride versus high-chloride hypertonic solution for the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage-related complications (The ACETatE trial): study protocol for a pilot randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2018
Background Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a life-threatening condition that results from a ruptured cerebral vessel. Cerebral edema and vasospasm are common complications and frequently require treatment with hypertonic solutions, in ...

Evaluating techniques in tissue clarification using CLARITY imaging and investigating where sodium is sensed in the body [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
OBJECTIVE: Previous studies have shown the significant contribution of sympathoinhibition in response to sodium loading to prevent increases in mean arterial blood pressure in salt resistant phenotypes.
