Molecular drivers and physiological consequences of saline-alkaline stress resilience in the large-scale loach (Paramisgurnus dabryanus)

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The development of saline-alkaline tolerant fish species has received extensive attention as a strategy for expanding aquaculture into inland saline-alkaline waters to optimize land use efficiency.

Effects of Early-Adolescent, Mid-Adolescent, or Adult Stress on Morphine Conditioned Place Preference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In light of previous work demonstrating that stress can increase subjective drug reward in adult rats, the present study investigated the influence of stress on morphine conditioned place preference (CPP) in early-adolescent, mid-adolescent, and adult ...

Soybean Performance under Salinity Stress

open access: yes, 2011
Soybean seed is a major source of high-quality protein and oil for human consumption (Katerji et al. 2001). The unique chemical composition of soybean has made it one of the most valuable agronomic crops worldwide (Thomas et al. 2003). Its protein has great potential as a major source of dietary protein.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

The WD40 gene family in recretohalophyte Limonium bicolor: genomic identification and functional analysis in salt gland development and salinity tolerance

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionDeveloping salt-tolerant crops is critical for utilizing saline soils in agriculture. Limonium bicolor, a recretohalophyte with epidermal salt glands, represents a valuable genetic resource for salt tolerance engineering.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
