Salinity Gradient Energy: Current State and New Trends
In this article we give an overview of the state of the art of salinity gradient technologies. We first introduce the concept of salinity gradient energy, before describing the current state of development of the most advanced of these technologies.

Ion-plus salinity gradient flow Battery
A Salinity Gradient Flow Battery (SGFB), as a novel energy-converting system, offered an alternative solution for the large-scale storage of renewable energy. Nevertheless, the commercialization of SGFB had been halted because the relatively high ohmic solution resistance in the low salinity solution. We proposed an “Ion-plus SGFB” system by internally-

Light attenuation data set along a coastal salinity gradient in Pohjanpitäjänlahti bay in May 2021
Light attenuation was measured in Pohjanpitäjänlahti bay in May 2021 at four stations along a coastal salinity gradient. Light attenuation was measured with Secchi disc and a light meter (400-700 nm).

Finite elements-based 2D theoretical analysis of the effect of IEX membrane thickness and salt solution residence time on the ion transport within a salinity gradient power reverse electrodialysis half cell pair [PDF]
Reverse electrodialysis electrical power generation is based on the transport of salt ions through ion conductive membranes. The ion flux, equivalent to an electric current, results from a salinity gradient, induced by two salt solutions at significantly
