Recent Advances in Isatin–Thiazole Hybrids: Synthesis, Structural Design, and Biological Application

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Isatin–thiazole hybrids are considered privileged chemical scaffolds due to their broad spectrum of pharmacological properties, making them attractive candidates for drug development. As a result, isatin–thiazole derivatives have emerged as a prominent class of hybrid heterocycles and have been the focus of extensive research in recent years ...

Cu or Fe‐Exchanged Natural Clinoptilolite as Sustainable Light‐Assisted Catalyst for Water Disinfection at Near Neutral pH

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
Fe and Cu exchanged natural clinoptilolites are evaluated as heterogeneous photo‐Fenton catalysts for water disinfection under visible light, using E. coli as a model pathogen. Bacterial detection limit is reached in 2 h, with no regrowth observed.

PHENOTIPIC AND GENOTIPIC CHARACTERIZATION OF SALMONELLA SPP ISOLATED FROM MOLLUSCAN SHELLFISH IN MARCHE REGION

open access: yesItalian Journal of Food Safety, 2009
Salmonella enterica is a major epidemic cause of gastrointestinal infection worldwide. Although the animal host is believed to be the primary habitat of this specie, Salmonella is frequently isolated from water sources and it has been identified in ...

Infection-generated electric field in gut epithelium drives bidirectional migration of macrophages. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Many bacterial pathogens hijack macrophages to egress from the port of entry to the lymphatic drainage and/or bloodstream, causing dissemination of life-threatening infections. However, the underlying mechanisms are not well understood.

Drug Discovery Applications of Nitroso (Hetero)Arene Derivatives

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
Nitroso (hetero)aromatic compounds are bioactive molecules with antiviral, anticancer, neuroprotective, and antimicrobial properties. This review highlights their mechanisms of action—oxidative stress, DNA damage, and enzyme inhibition—alongside synthesis, structure–activity relationships, and toxicity challenges, offering insight into their ...

Development of a Promising Bivalent Vaccine Against Klebsiella pneumoniae Based on Glycoengineered GMMA (geGMMA)

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Multidrug‐resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae poses a significant threat as a nosocomial pathogen, with no current licensed vaccines available. This study used a mutant E. coli strain expressing exogenous polysaccharides (from K. pneumoniae) to establish glycoengineered generalized modules for membrane antigens (geGMMA) vaccine platform, which demonstrated

Veterinary Medicine Needs New Green Antimicrobial Drugs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Given that: (1) the worldwide consumption of antimicrobial drugs (AMDs) used in food-producing animals will increase over the coming decades; (2) the prudent use of AMDs will not suffice to stem the rise in human antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of animal ...

Recovery of Salmonella isolated from eggs and the commercial layer farms

open access: yesGut Pathogens, 2017
Background Salmonella is recognized as a common bacterial cause of foodborne diarrheal illness worldwide, and animal or its food products have been the most common vehicles of the Salmonella infections. This study aimed to investigate the distribution of
