Diversity and function of phage encoded depolymerases [PDF]
Bacteriophages of the Podoviridae family often exhibit so-called depolymerases as structural components of the virion. These enzymes appear as tail spike proteins (TSPs).

Hermetia illucens larvae meal (HIL) improved broiler growth, carcass yield, gut microbiology, and profitability, with the highest performance observed at 12% inclusion. However, lower inclusion levels (4%) offered a better balance by enhancing meat quality and maintaining favourable fatty acid profiles while still supporting productive and economic ...

A novel kirkovirus may be associated with equine gastrointestinal disease
Abstract Background Many cases of equine enterocolitis are suspected to be infectious in nature, but no pathogen is identified in many cases. Objectives Perform next‐generation sequencing on faeces collected from cases of equine enterocolitis for the presence of novel viruses and determine if an identified novel virus is associated with cases of equine

CRISPR‐FLEXMO (CRISPR with flexible PAM in MOF encapsulation) integrates a PAM‐relaxed Cas12a K607R enzyme with a manganese‐coordinated MOF for broad‐spectrum diagnosis of bacterial sepsis. The MOF enhances activity and preserves functionality under heat, solvent, and chaotropic stress, supporting long‐term room‐temperature storage.

Complete Genome Sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Minnesota Strain [PDF]
Mango has been implicated as food vehicle in several Salmonella-causing foodborne outbreaks. Here, Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Minnesota was isolated from fresh mango fruit imported from Mexico in 2014. The complete genome sequence of S. Minnesota CFSAN017963 was sequenced using single-molecule real-time DNA sequencing.

To distinguish how Salmonella invades cells vs how it survives long‐term, a parallel CRISPR screening platform is developed. This approach reveals the host proteins that the bacterium exploits at different stages of infection. The study identifies SORL1 as a novel host factor for invasion and demonstrates that blocking it with an antibody effectively ...
