Cytokines in Salmonellosis

EcoSal Plus, 2004
The recruitment and activation of phagocytic cells in infected tissues and the induction of T-cell- and B-cell-dependent acquired immunity are crucial for the control and resolution of Salmonella infections. However, bloody diarrhea so often associated with salmonellosis in other animals was not seen in any of the goats. Mortality was high despite fluid therapy and the use of antibiotics shown to be effective

Salmonellosis in Calves

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 1985
Despite the efforts of both physicians and veterinarians, the number of cases of salmonellosis per year has held steady or risen. The ability of the organism to live in many different animal species and under inhospitable environmental conditions is likely responsible for Salmonella's prevalence today.
