The mitochondrial genome of clearhead icefish Protosalanx chinensis (Salmoniformes: Salangidae) [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
The complete mitochondrial genome of Protosalanx chinensis was determined to be 16,879 bp in length. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs, and a control region.

The subunit composition of the mammalian Mediator complex is not conserved in all vertebrates: Insights from evolutionary plasticity of fish genomes. [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Sci
Abstract The Mediator complex is an indispensable, multi‐subunit protein transcriptional coactivator with a central role in gene expression in Eukaryotes. Among vertebrates, its molecular structure and subunit composition are well‐known only for mammals.

Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Gyrodactylus nigeri (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea). [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
The fish Yunnanilus niger is the host of Gyrodactylus nigeri. The mitochondrial genome of G. nigeri is 14,903 bp in length. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that this species belonged to the genus Gyrodactylus and Gyrodactylidae forms an independent monophyletic clade within Gyrodactylidea.

Complete mitochondrial genomes of the Arctic charr Salvelinus alpinus alpinus Linnaeus (Salmoniformes: Salmonidae) [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
The complete mitochondrial genomes were sequenced in three individuals of Arctic charr Salvelinus alpinus alpinus. The genome sequences were 16,655 and 16,657 bp in length, and the gene arrangement, composition, and size are very similar to the charr ...

Utilizing Environmental DNA Metabarcoding to Assess Fish‐Based Food Resources in Key Foraging Areas of the Black Stork [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
This study employed environmental DNA (eDNA) to assess fish‐based food resources in key foraging areas of the Black Stork (Ciconia nigra)—Zhanghe Canyon and Qixi River National Wetland Parks in Henan, China. Results show that the main prey in these habitats are fish from the orders Siluriformes, Cypriniformes, and Perciformes, with no significant ...

Seasonal Differences in Fish Community Structure in the Upper Yangtze River Based on eDNA Metabarcoding: A Multi-Dimensional Analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
This study used eDNA metabarcoding to detect seasonal fish diversity in the upper Yangtze River, analyzing species composition and functional groups. Multiple diversity indices (α‐diversity, functional, taxonomic, and phylogenetic diversity) were employed to explore seasonal changes in fish communities.

Use of DNA barcoding in the assignment of commercially valuable fish species from Romania

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources, 2017
DNA barcoding is a molecular technique frequently used either for biodiversity monitoring and fish conservation or in the identification of the species of origin for raw and processed food from restaurants or fish markets.

Assessing Current Fish Diversity in the Yellow River Basin by Integrating Large-Scale Barcoding and Morphological Data. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
In this study, 127 sampling points were sampled in the Yellow River Basin, and a DNA barcode database of 3011 sequences and 110 species was constructed. We found that diversity of fish species in the Yellow River Basin has been seriously underestimated.

Differential expression and novel permeability properties of three aquaporin 8 paralogs from seawater-challenged Atlantic salmon smolts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Summary Aquaporins may facilitate transepithelial water absorption in the intestine of seawater (SW) acclimated fish. Here we have characterized three full-length aqp8 paralogs from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar).
