UAV‐Based Land Surface Temperatures and Vegetation Indices Explain and Predict Spatial Patterns of Soil Water Isotopes in a Tropical Dry Forest

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 61, Issue 2, February 2025.
Graphical abstract illustrating the concept of isotopic enrichment of soil water depending on canopy status and plant type. Because of less shading provided, evaporative enrichment in areas without canopy cover is higher compared to areas with intermixed evergreen and leaf‐shedding trees and evergreen patches. E and T are Evaporation and Transpiration,

Composition chimique et dégradabilité enzymatique et in vitro d'espèces ligneuses arbustives utilisables par les ruminants dans les parcours extensifs de la Nouvelle Calédonie. I. Typologie

Strangler fig–host tree associations: Insights into the ecology and management of tropical urban green spaces

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 159-175, January 2025.
The strangler fig is known for its hemiepiphytic growth form and conspicuous strangling behavior in the tropics worldwide. It also plays an important role in providing ecological functions in tropical urban ecosystems. This study reveals strangler figs tend to colonize large trees with suitable microsites in a large tropical botanical garden and cause ...

Potassium extrusion by plant cells: evolution from an emergency valve to a driver of long‐distance transport

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 245, Issue 1, Page 69-87, January 2025.
Summary The ability to accumulate nutrients is a hallmark for living creatures and plants evolved highly effective nutrient transport systems, especially for the uptake of potassium (K+). However, plants also developed mechanisms that enable the rapid extrusion of K+ in combination with anions.

Uncovering Biodiversity and Carbon Stock Potential in the Raghunandan Hill Reserve Forest of Bangladesh

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Understanding tree species composition, regeneration status, and biomass carbon storage is crucial for evaluating the sustainability of forest ecosystems under increasing anthropogenic pressure. This study assessed these parameters in Raghunandan Hill Reserve Forest (RHRF) to support evidence‐based decision‐making, sustainable management, and carbon ...

Evolutionary history and root trait coordination predict nutrient strategy in tropical legume trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 243, Issue 5, Page 1711-1723, September 2024.
Summary Plants express diverse nutrient use and acquisition traits, but it is unclear how trait combinations at the species level are constrained by phylogeny, trait coordination, or trade‐offs in resource investment. One trait – nitrogen (N) fixation – is assumed to correlate with other traits and used to define plant functional groups, despite ...

Pest categorisation of Pyrrhoderma noxium

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2024.
Abstract Following the commodity risk assessment of bonsai plants (Pinus parviflora grafted on Pinus thunbergii) from China performed by EFSA, the EFSA Plant Health Panel performed a pest categorisation of Pyrrhoderma noxium, a clearly defined plant pathogenic basidiomycete fungus of the order Hymenochaetales and the family Hymenochaetaceae.

New Triterpenoid Glycosides from the Stem Bark of Samanea Saman

open access: yesInternational Journal of Basic Sciences and Applied Computing, 2020
From the stem bark of Samanea saman two new triterpenoid glycoside have been isolated and characterized as 3, 22 – dihydroxyolean -12-ene-24-0--D-xylopyranoside 1 and 1, 2, 3-trihydroxy-16-0-acetylolean-12-ene-28-oic-0 [--Darabinopyranosyl (13)] --D-arabinopyranoside 2 by spectral and chemical studies.
