Intraventricular Drug Delivery and Sampling for Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics Study

Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2022
Although the blood-brain barrier (BBB) protects the brain from foreign entities, it also prevents some therapeutics from crossing into the central nervous system (CNS) to ameliorate diseases or infections. Drugs are administered directly into the CNS in animals and humans to circumvent the BBB.

Implantable device for drug delivery and blood sampling in the rat

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1985
An implantable drug-delivery and venous sampling device is described that is constructed from a polyvinyl chloride catheter and a rubber intravenous catheter plug coated with Silastic. The implant was used for repeated venous sampling and for both administration of parenteral solutions and injections into the right colon of the rat for periods to 1 mo.

The Epidemiology of Postpartum Hemorrhage in a Large, Nationwide Sample of Deliveries

Obstetric Anesthesia Digest, 2010
In this study, we sought to (1) define trends in the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), and (2) elucidate the contemporary epidemiology of PPH focusing on risk factors and maternal outcomes related to this delivery complication.Hospital admissions for delivery were extracted from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample, the largest discharge dataset in ...

Microfluidic sample delivery for serial crystallography using XFELs

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2019
Serial femtosecond crystallography (SFX) with X-ray free electron lasers (XFELs) is an emerging field for structural biology. One of its major impacts lies in the ability to reveal the structure of complex proteins previously inaccessible with synchrotron-based crystallography techniques and allowing time-resolved studies from femtoseconds to seconds ...
