Risk factors for high anti-HHV-8 antibody titers (≥1:51,200) in black, HIV-1 negative South African cancer patients: a case control study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Background: Infection with human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) is the necessary causal agent in the development of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS). Infection with HIV-1, male gender and older age all increase risk for KS.

TP53 Loss Elevates NF‐κB‐IFN‐β‐MHC‐Ia Signaling to Promote NK Cell Resistance in Osteosarcoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TP53 loss in a transforming or osteosarcoma cell promotes cytosolic DNA accumulation, activating NF‐κB‐dependent IFN‐β production. Autocrine IFN‐β signaling increases cell‐surface HLA‐Ia expression, strengthens inhibitory KIR signaling in natural killer cells, and thereby enables the affected cell to evade NK cell‐mediated cytotoxicity.

Modeling CIC::DUX4 sarcoma reveals oncogene-mediated MHCI-dependent immune evasion

open access: yesMolecular Cancer
CIC::DUX4 sarcoma (CDS) is a highly aggressive malignancy with limited therapeutic options. Here, we present a doxycycline-inducible CIC::DUX4 chimeric mouse model and a cancer line derived from it, imChCDS, that faithfully recapitulates the molecular ...

A Versatile DNA‐Encoded Library Platform for the Discovery of Highly Cooperative Chemical Inducers of Proximity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a versatile DNA‐encoded library (DEL) platform designed for rapid library synthesis and subsequent screening for chemical inducers of proximity (CIPs) across various presenter proteins of choice. Applying this approach, we discovered a novel molecular glue‐like compound mediating CRBN‐BRD9 ternary complex formation with remarkable ...

Human herpesvirus-8 in hematological diseases

open access: yesHaematologica, 1998
The huge amount of experimental and clinical observations supporting the possible involvement of human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) or Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV) in human lymphoproliferative diseases was critically reviewed during a workshop organized by
