Optimizing Ligand Efficiency of Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) [PDF]

open access: yesACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2015
A series of selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) containing the 1-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl alcohol core have been optimized for androgen receptor (AR) potency and drug-like properties. We have taken advantage of the lipophilic ligand efficiency (LLE) parameter as a guide to interpret the effect of structural changes on AR activity.

Laguna Fuente de Piedra: An example of a dolomite factory recording ~50,000 years of depositional and paleoclimatic evolution

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study characterises carbonate mineral precipitation mechanisms and their paleoenvironmental implications in a semi‐arid, saline playa lake system. SEM image with EDS spectra shows microcrystalline, spherical shaped dolomite crystals from Laguna Fuente de Piedra composed of nanocrystals with bacterial voids and EPS.

Structure-function analysis of ceTIR-1/hSARM1 explains the lack of Wallerian axonal degeneration in C. elegans

open access: yesCell Reports, 2023
Summary: Wallerian axonal degeneration (WD) does not occur in the nematode C. elegans, in contrast to other model animals. However, WD depends on the NADase activity of SARM1, a protein that is also expressed in C. elegans (ceSARM/ceTIR-1).

Further Insights Into the Metabolism of LGD‐4033 in Human Urine. Part 1. Structure Elucidation of Additional Important Metabolites

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 245-259, February 2026.
Well‐characterized, chemically synthesized molecules related to LGD‐4033 metabolism were used as analytical standards for the analysis of LGD‐4033 post‐administration urine samples. This approach offered further insights into LGD‐4033 metabolism, providing solid experimental proof for the structure of important previously reported metabolites and ...

Pharmacological intervention: Challenges and promising outcomes for fat loss and preservation of lean body mass in the treatment of overweight and type 2 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 803-816, February 2026.
Abstract Treatment with GLP‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) is effective in reducing body weight in individuals with overweight and type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, measurements indicate that a considerable portion of the weight loss derives from fat‐free mass (FFM), including skeletal muscle, which may compromise metabolic health and physical function.
