Changes in Composition of Vacuolar Membrane Lipid Fatty Acids Under Osmotic Stress [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2016
The investigation of influence of different types of osmotic stress (hypo- and hyperosmotic) on the composition of vacuolar membrane lipid fatty acids of red beet root (Beta vulgaris L., variety Bordeaux) was conducted.

Saturated fatty acids promote chondrocyte matrix remodeling through reprogramming of autophagy pathways

open access: yes, 2018
Objectives: Obesity is a known strong risk factor for the onset of knee osteoarthritis and is often accompanied by dysregulated lipid metabolism with elevated levels of free fatty acids such as saturated fatty acids (SFAs).

Biosynthesis of Sciadonic Acid Derived from Gymnosperms with Anti‐Colitis Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an efficient Yarrowia lipolytica platform for unusual sciadonic acid (SCA) production and assess the anti‐colitis efficacy in mice of SCA, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic lipid. ABSTRACT Sciadonic acid (SCA), Δ5‐unsaturated fatty acid with anti‐inflammatory and lipid‐regulatory properties, is predominantly derived

Differences in fatty acid composition between cerebral brain lobes in juvenile pigs after fish oil feeding

open access: yes, 2008
Very long-chain n-3 PUFA from fish are suggested to play a role in the development of the brain. Fish oil feeding results in higher proportions of n-3 PUFA in the brains of newborn piglets. However, the effect of fish oil on the fatty acid composition of

Bilateral SERS‐Microneedle Patch for Co‐Diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus and Tuberculosis Comorbidity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study introduced a U@mP@Au‐mediated bilateral SERS‐microneedle patch for analyzing glucose levels from ISF and sensitively detecting TB biomarkers from sputum, respectively. This integrated dual‐analyte detecting platform can be used for co‐diagnosis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and tuberculosis (TB) comorbidity, which was demonstrated in ex vivo ...

ABHD17C‐Mediated S‐Depalmitoylation of BCL6B Enhances CD24 Transcription to Resist Macrophage Phagocytosis in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABHD17C‐mediated depalmitoylation of BCL6B at Cys442 blocks its nuclear import and triggers ubiquitin‐dependent degradation, attenuating transcriptional repression of the anti‐phagocytic signal CD24. This mechanism enables pancreatic cancer cells to evade macrophage phagocytosis and fosters an immunosuppressive microenvironment.

Sex-specific effect of dietary fatty acids on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common chronic hepatic disease worldwide. Dietary fatty acid is tightly associated with the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease but few large-scale and in-depth clinical researches have
