Asymmetric Synthesis of Saturated Hydroxy Fatty Acids and Fatty Acid Esters of Hydroxy Fatty Acids

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
The recent discovery of a novel class of endogenous lipids, named Fatty Acid esters of Hydroxy Fatty Acids (FAHFAs), that present antidiabetic and anti‐inflammatory activities, has attracted the interest on hydroxy fatty acids (HFAs) and their derivatives.

A Humanized Anti‐gD Broadly Neutralizing Antibody Confers Complete Post‐Exposure Protection against Pseudorabies Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pseudorabies virus (PRV), an emerging zoonotic α‐herpesvirus, causes life‐threatening human encephalitis. We identified a broad‐spectrum neutralizing antibody 6F7 targeting PRV gD. It blocks gD‐Nectin‐1 binding and membrane fusion, inhibiting replication across all PRV variants, representing a promising candidate for anti‐PRV therapy.

Insulin response and changes in composition of non-esterified fatty acids in blood plasma of middle-aged men following isoenergetic fatty and carbohydrate breakfasts

open access: yes, 2000
It was previously shown that a high plasma concentration of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) persisted after a fatty breakfast, but not after an isoenergetic carbohydrate breakfast, adversely affecting glucose tolerance.

SuFEx‐Enabled Reprogramming of Flavonoids for Selective α‐Glucosidase Covalent Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective inhibition of intestinal α‐glucosidase remains limited by poor enzyme specificity and off‐target metabolic effects. Here, SuFEx click chemistry is used to reprogram natural flavonoids into covalent inhibitors with enhanced α‐glucosidase selectivity and controlled reactivity. This strategy enables effective regulation of carbohydrate digestion

Unravelling the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of dietary fatty acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been shown to modulate immune responses and have therapeutic effects in inflammatory disorders. The specific mechanisms of their actions have yet to be defined.

CEBPG‐Mediated Palmitic Acid Adaptation of Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Drives Metastasis of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a metabolic signaling axis in the OSCC microenvironment where palmitic acid (PA) drives the activation of CAFs. PA uptake triggers CEBPG‐dependent epigenetic remodeling to upregulate ERN1 and TMBIM6, thereby mitigating ER stress. This adaptive program sustains CAF survival and the pro‐metastatic phenotype, establishing this pathway ...

Variation in Fatty Acids Composition Including Trans Fat in Different Brands of Potato Chips by GC-MS [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Analytical & Environmental Chemistry, 2010
Twelve different brands of potato chips were analyzed for their fatty acid compositions with eminence on trans fatty acid (TFA) using GC-MS. Results of the present study showed that the dominant fatty acids were saturated fatty acids. Among the saturated

A New Atherogenic Effect of Saturated Fatty Acids

open access: yesPhysiological Research, 2013
There is increasing evidence that dietary saturated fatty acids (SAFA) have not only an indirect atherogenic effect due to increasing LDL-cholesterol concentration but also a direct effect by activating the inflammation process. This review summarizes several recent publications in this field.
