Electrochemical destruction and mobilization of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in saturated soil.

Chemosphere, 2021
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) have attracted attention due to their widespread distribution, recalcitrance, and substantial toxicity.

Vertical vibration of an end bearing pile interacting with the radially inhomogeneous saturated soil

, 2020
This study aims at portraying the vertical vibration characteristics of an end bearing pile interacting with the saturated soil that is of distinctly inhomogeneous behavior in the radial direction due to the construction disturbance.

Experimental determination of sediment transport capacity of concentrated water flow over saturated soil slope

European Journal of Soil Science, 2020
Sediment transport capacity (STC) is an important variable for characterising soil erosion on hillslopes. STC also determines the capability of sediment delivery and solute transportation.

Temperature characteristics and influence of water-saturated soil resistivity on the HVDC grounding electrode temperature rise

, 2020
The temperature rise process has always been the main factor for the safe operation of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) grounding electrodes, and the soil resistivity is the key parameter affecting the temperature rise of the grounding electrode.

In-situ remediation of hexavalent chromium contaminated groundwater and saturated soil using stabilized iron sulfide nanoparticles.

Journal of Environmental Management, 2019
Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) is one of prevalent toxic and mobile heavy metal contaminants in the environment. In this study, synthetic iron sulfide nanoparticles (FeS NPs) stabilized with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) were applied to remediate Cr(VI ...

Vibration mitigation in saturated soil by periodic pile barriers

, 2020
Coupling the widely used Biot’s theory and the periodic structure theory in the solid-state physics, this paper presents a comprehensive numerical investigation on the complex dispersion properties of periodic pile barriers and further explores the ...

Resistance of saturated soil to a laterally vibrating pile

, 2020
This paper presents an analytical solution for the resistance of saturated soil to a laterally vibrating pile. Based on Biot's model for fluid-saturated porous media, by setting the dynamic vertical normal stress in the soil equal to zero and combining ...

Vibration mitigation in saturated soil by periodic in-filled pipe pile barriers

, 2020
The complex dispersion relations and vibration mitigation properties of periodic in-filled pipe pile barrier in fluid-saturated poroelastic soil are investigated.

Loss of Controllability in Partially Saturated Soils

2011
A study on saturation induced soil instability is presented. A constitutive model for unsaturated soils is linked to a theoretical approach able to deal with mechanical instability of fully saturated geomaterials. The theoretical approach is therefore extended to the more general case of partially saturated soils.
