Horizontal impedances of saturated soil layer with radially inhomogeneous boundary zone

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2018
The dynamic impedance of saturated soil layer with a radially inhomogeneous boundary zone to horizontally vibrating pile is theoretically investigated.

Dissolved Oxygen in Saturated Soil

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1955
Abstract The polarographic method of measuring dissolved oxygen in saturated soil presented previously by the authors was used in the laboratory to determine what happens to dissolved oxygen in saturated soils that have no plants growing on them.

Water‐intake of saturated soils

Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1937
In his profound work “Data of geochemistry” Clarke accepts the estimate that of the total of about 337,000,000 cubic miles of water within the hydrosphere of the Earth, 29,347 cubic miles falls as precipitation on the land‐area and 6,524 cubic miles returns to the oceans as stream‐flow annually [see 1 of references at end of paper].

Saturated Soil Hydraulic Conductivity

2016
This chapter deals primarily with field measurement of saturated soil hydraulic conductivity, K fs . Well or borehole permeameter techniques, specifically developed for subsurface soil measurements above the water table, are initially illustrated. Particular attention is paid to establishment of steady flow under constant head in an uncased borehole ...

On the mechanics of partially saturated soils

Computers and Geotechnics, 1991
Abstract This paper discusses a rule of decomposition of stresses in saturated soils based on average stress measures in the constituents. On the basis of this decomposition a mathematical framework for describing the mechanical response of partially saturated soils under undrained conditions is proposed.

Dynamics of partially saturated soils

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
In this work a fully coupled model for the dynamic analysis of partially saturated plastic soils including water and airflow is presented. The innovative contribution of this research mainly consists in the extension of the model to the dynamic analysis of porous media with two simultaneously flowing immiscible fluids.

On the shear instability of saturated soil

International Journal of Engineering Science, 2001
Abstract In this paper, the dynamic instability of simple shear of saturated soil is discussed. The governing equations are obtained based on mixture theory in which the inertia effect and the compressibility of grains are considered. Perturbation method is used to analyze and it is shown that two types of instability may exist.

Undrained Compressibility of Saturated Soil

1984
Abstract : A series of equations for the bulk and constrained compressibility of undrained saturated granular soils are developed. Four sets of equations are developed, each set using a more complicated and realistic set of assumptions describing the soil behavior.

NOMOGRAPH FOR THE SATURATION PERCENTAGE OF SOIL

Soil Science, 1972
L. V. WILCOX'S METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE SATURATION PERCENTAGE OF SOIL TO WATER IS PRESENTED IN THE FORM OF A NOMOGRAPH THAT ESTABLISHES A STRAIGHT- LINE RELATIONSHIP AMONG THE VOLUME OF SATURATED SOIL PASTE (IN CU CM), THE NET WEIGHT OF THAT VOLUME (IN GRAMS), AND SATURATION PERCENTAGE.
