Global Control of Linear Systems with Saturating Actuators

Continuous-time linear systems with saturating actuators are considered. A gain-scheduling controller is introduced where the actuator characteristic is accounted for in the design of the controller. Several control problems, e.g. global asymptotic stabilization, disturbance rejection, robust stabilization, etc. are treated in this paper.

Linear conditioning for systems containing saturating actuators

A system composed of a linear controller and plant can exhibit strange behaviour when the actuators linking the controller to the plant are subject to saturation, or other nonlinear effects. Linear conditioning means augmenting the system with a linear transfer function to change the system's behaviour during, and immediately following, saturation.

Synthesis Algorithm for Control System with Saturated Actuator

The paper presents a generalized algorithm for designing closed optimal systems with a dynamic controller and a nonlinear actuator. The purpose of the proposed algorithm is to identify the area of system performance degradation, manifested as unintentional oscillations, due to the influence of actuator nonlinearity and reduce this area.
