Fractality and degree correlations in scale-free networks

open access: yes, 2017
Fractal scale-free networks are empirically known to exhibit disassortative degree mixing. It is, however, not obvious whether a negative degree correlation between nearest neighbor nodes makes a scale-free network fractal.

Generation of uncorrelated random scale-free networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Uncorrelated random scale-free networks are useful null models to check the accuracy an the analytical solutions of dynamical processes defined on complex networks.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Clustering and Synchronization of Oscillator Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Using a recently described technique for manipulating the clustering coefficient of a network without changing its degree distribution, we examine the effect of clustering on the synchronization of phase oscillators on networks with Poisson and scale ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Numerical evaluation of the upper critical dimension of percolation in scale-free networks

open access: yes, 2007
We propose a numerical method to evaluate the upper critical dimension $d_c$ of random percolation clusters in Erd\H{o}s-R\'{e}nyi networks and in scale-free networks with degree distribution ${\cal P}(k) \sim k^{-\lambda}$, where $k$ is the degree of a ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Scale-free networks in cell biology [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell Science, 2005
A cell's behavior is a consequence of the complex interactions between its numerous constituents, such as DNA, RNA, proteins and small molecules. Cells use signaling pathways and regulatory mechanisms to coordinate multiple processes, allowing them to respond to and adapt to an ever-changing environment.

Communication Bottlenecks in Scale-Free Networks

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the effects of network topology on the optimality of packet routing quantified by $\gamma_c$, the rate of packet insertion beyond which congestion and queue growth occurs.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
