Log-Scale Dose Response of Inhibitors on a Chip [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2011
We demonstrate the accommodation of log-scale concentration gradients of inhibitors on a single microfluidic chip with a semidirect dilution capability of reagents for the determination of the half-inhibitory concentration or IC(50). The chip provides a unique tool for hosting a wide-range of concentration gradient for studies that require an equal ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Study the Effect of Corrosion and Scale Inhibitors on Corrosion Rate of Carbon Steel in Cooling Towers Unit in Oil Refineries

open access: yesمجلة النهرين للعلوم الهندسية, 2021
In the present work the effect of Corrosion & Scale Inhibitor was evaluated by using of the commercial product (Kurita S2050) that mainly containing of (Na2HPO4) sodium phosphate as corrosion inhibitor and (C6H11NaO7) sodium glocunate as scale inhibitor &

Complex regulation of neutrophil-derived MMP-9 secretion in central nervous system tuberculosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: Central nervous system tuberculosis (CNS-TB) may be fatal even with treatment. Neutrophils are the key mediators of TB immunopathology, and raised CSF matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) which correlates to neutrophil count in CNS-TB is ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A chemogenomic screening identifies CK2 as a target for pro-senescence therapy in PTEN-deficient tumours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Enhancement of cellular senescence in tumours triggers a stable cell growth arrest and activation of an antitumour immune response that can be exploited for cancer therapy.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Molecular scale insights into interaction mechanisms between organic inhibitor film and copper

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation, 2021
A model experimental approach, providing molecular scale insight into the build up mechanisms of a corrosion inhibiting interface, is reported. 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (2-MBI), a widely used organic inhibitor, was deposited from the vapor phase at ultra ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
