Smart flexible microrobots for scanning electron microscope (SEM) applications
SPIE Proceedings, 2000In the scanning electron microscope (SEM), specially designed microrobots can act as a flexible assembly facility for hybrid microsystems, as probing devices for in-situ tests on IC structures or just as a helpful teleoperated tool for the SEM operator when examining samples.

Primary atrophic rhinitis: a scanning electron microscopic (SEM) study
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1980The surface features of atrophic rhinitis are shown and it is suggested that these explain the majority of symptoms. It seems clear that any lesion preventing the formation or maturation of large numbers of motile cilia, or the production of mucus capable of forming confluent sheets suitable for continuous propulsion, may cause atrophic rhinitis.

Microdiffraction phase identification in the scanning electron microscope (SEM)
Powder Diffraction, 2004The identification of crystallographic phases in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) has been limited by the lack of a simple way to obtain electron diffraction data of an unknown while observing the microstructure of the specimen. With the development of charge coupled device (CCD)-based detectors, backscattered electron Kikuchi patterns ...

Microcharacterization of electroluminescent diodes with the scanning electron microscope (SEM)
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1975A complete material characterization of electroluminescent diodes necessarily requires a high spatial resolution because of the micron-sized thickness of the different epitaxial layers. A modified arrangement of a scanning electron microscope (SEM) has proven to be an extremely useful tool for obtaining information on the various parameters of each of ...

Scanning electron microscope (SEM) studies on the epiblast of young chick embryos
Zeitschrift fr Anatomie und Entwicklungsgeschichte, 1974The epiblast of young chick embryos of stages 4–8 (Hamburger and Hamilton) was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. On the basis of surface differentiation, two zones can be distinguished.

A Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) Study on the Endothelium of the Normal Rabbit Aorta
Journal of Vascular Research, 1972In scanning electron microscopic (SEM) studies the appearance of the normal endothelial surface of the rabbit thoracic aorta was considered. The intercellular bridges described by other authors as elements of the normal endothelial surface were interpreted as artifacts in this study.

Analysis of Construction Material Using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)
Advanced Materials Research, 2013This study analyzed change of microstructure of air pollution control (APC) ash after being sintered at 700°C, 900°C and 1100°C using SEM (scanning electronic microscope). It was found that fly ash has a loose structure and lots of pores among the particulates, making it easy for heavy metals to be extracted into the environment.

The use of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) to reconstruct the ultrastructure of sporoderm
Palynology, 2016Scanning electron microscope (SEM) data can help in the interpretation of transmission electron microscope (TEM) ultrathin sections and reconstruction of the three-dimensional inner structure of large palynological objects like megaspores. For a SEM study of the inner structure of fossil megaspores, we tried three variants of embedding media: a water ...

The observation of crystalline materials in the scanning electron microscope (SEM)
Journal of Microscopy, 1975SUMMARYContrast effects from electron channelling in crystalline solids can be observed in the scanning electron microscope by the correct choice of operating conditions. The crystallographic symmetry and orientation of specimen areas as small as 1 μm in diameter can be determined, and detailed quantitative information obtained about the density ...

Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) Study
2013Segnet and Anderson (1971) indicated the nature of changes occurring in the physical structures of a well and a poorly crystallized kaolinite when heated to different temperatures by scanning electron microscopic studies.
