Scanning transmission X-ray microscopy at the Advanced Light Source
Over 50 years of development, synchrotron based X-ray microscopy has become a routine and powerful tool for the analysis of nanoscale structure and chemistry in many areas of science. Scanning X-ray microscopy is particularly well suited to the study of chemical and magnetic states of matter and has become available at most synchrotron light sources ...

Application of Scanning Transmission X-Ray Microscopy to the Rubber Industry [PDF]
Abstract Materials of commercial significance in the rubber industry are usually multi-component systems composed of several elastomers and various fillers. Elucidating the complex morphology that can arise from blending and understanding how this affects the various properties are essential.

Extracting the Dynamic Magnetic Contrast in Time-Resolved X-Ray Transmission Microscopy
Using a time-resolved detection scheme in scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM), we measured element resolved ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) at microwave frequencies up to 10 GHz and a spatial resolution down to 20 nm at two different synchrotrons.

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
